Obituary for
Sally M. Molnar
Sally M. Molnar of Mishawaka died Friday August 5, 2016 at Grand Emerald Place in South Bend. The LaPorte native was born January 14, 1932 to Steve & Vernus (Estridge) Shuta [Moore]. On April 13, 1971, Sally married David M. Molnar in Roseland. “Everyone who knew Sally as a young mother, knew that her three daughters were the light of her life. The love of her life and her best friend was always her husband David. He introduced her to the world of drag racing and she embraced it completely; she was his biggest fan. She packed the parachute for the dragster, drove the tow car and kept the crew fed. She soon began to take an interest in sporty cars and her first was a Marina Blue Chevrolet Impala; soon trading it for a gold Corvette, next a Z-28, then a Nova and finally her dream car, a black Avanti. She also enjoyed travel & dancing; and writing poetry. She enjoyed doing crafts and ‘making something out of nothing’ (before the term ‘repurposing’ became popular). She was wicked with a glue gun & a little spray paint. She also enjoyed cooking & baking for her family; her specialties were cream pies and Hungarian Kiefflies. Sally held many jobs throughout her life. She worked at Uniroyal, and at Bendix Missile as a switchboard operator. She worked as a secretary & bookkeeper for Marion Products, Al’s Electric, Comcast, Bradley Design Studio and Shaker Racing. Sally’s strong and feisty spirit became her trademark throughout her life. When friends or family needed help making an important decision, she always reminded them to stay true to themselves and follow their hearts.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve Shuta and Vernus (Shuta) Moore. Sally’s survivors include David, her husband of 45 years; their daughters, Kary (Jerry) DeVall of Granger, Terry (Bradley) Renz of Mishawaka and Cindy (Jim) Asbury of Valparaiso; her sister, Marla (Wade) Hutson of Fife Lake, MI; grandchildren, Jody (Tom) Loring, Marcy (Bob) Nekvasil, Kipp (Jessica) Kahlenbeck, Charlotte Stafford, Bridgette (Stephen) Germann, Richard (Kim) Renz, Aaron (Ali) Renz and 13 great-grandchildren.
