Paul H. Lamirand, Jr., 76, of Mishawaka, died Sunday June 18, 2017. The Mishawaka native was born March 26, 1941 to Paul H. & Ruth (Moore) Lamirand, Sr. Paul graduated from Mishawaka High School with the Class of ’58 and received his Bachelors Degree from Indiana University in 1962, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. Paul was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam Era. On November 14, 1964, he married Jo Ann (Clardy) who survives after 52 years of marriage. Paul was a journalist who began his career as a reporter for the Elkhart Truth, then to the LaPorte Herald-Argus and then to Gary at the Post-Tribune before returning home and the South Bend Tribune where he retired after 38 years with the paper, serving as Copy Desk Chief, Editorial Editor and Education Writer. He was a member of the Tribune’s 25 yr. Club, The Indiana University Foundation and the IU Alumni Association. Paul was dedicated to his work; he enjoyed reading and history and was an avid IU fan. He is survived by his wife, Jo Lamirand; daughter, Paige (Robert) West of Mishawaka; son, Peter M. (Robyn) Lamirand of Huntington Beach CA; grandchildren, Wyatt & Scarlett Smith of Mishawaka, Shaun Lamirand of Huntington Beach and his brother, Robert (Sally) Lamirand of Warsaw. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 Saturday June 24, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm in the funeral home.
